That will NEVER happen. You need to convince COMPAQ to do it. It's THEIR job

it has native support in xp. but hp also has the drivers as well, i think. i think its only for certian notebooks though. not just the drivers to work with any pc. in beta 1 the card never started up at all but in beta 2 the card starts up. i just had to take the drivers from my xp installation. Where do you think the 'native' drivers magically come from? They come from the manufacturer. Not MS.
Talk to Compaq. "Steven Wabik" wrote in message

1. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the hardware to develop software products (drivers) that are compatible with Microsoft's operating systems and then to provide Microsoft with these drivers so that they can be included in the driver library of the operating system. This proceedure has not changed since Windows was begat. Microsoft does not write hardware specific drivers. Contact the manufacturer of the particular piece of hardware in question and ask them why they refuse to support you, their valued, paying customer.

Jesus Mark, dont you have another reply? You must be tired of pasting that answer in all the posts...
You're not really helping anyone with that answer.
People post messages here to have some input, even if it is to find out that others have the same problem.
By now, we all know Microsoft dosent develop drivers (thanks to you mainly).
Have a break. -- Pampas

I have many other replies. Try this one out: Dear Pampas; Why are you so concerned with what I post? When I click on your username, it tells me you have answered no questions and been helpful to noone. When I click on my username it says I am one and one. Perhaps you should be a little more helpful to other people instead of just me. (And as a side note, do you really feel that swearing on a public forum is appropriate?)

An exaggeration for drama effect! Excellent!

You're not really helping anyone with that answer.

We'll come back to this one in just a moment...

They are getting input from a variety of quality people who frequent the forum. Andre, Tom, Zack and Colin (among many others) have provided a wealth of information. It is unfortunate that a good many of the posters on this forum don't take the opportunity to read their insights. From what I gather from the majority of the threads, most suffer from EXACTLY the same problem: ignorance.

By now, we all know Microsoft dosent develop drivers (thanks to you mainly).

Well, now , if I am "not really helping anyone with that answer." how do you explain that this is mainly due to me? Apparently I have educated the masses! And if it spurs more people to call or write to HP, then perhaps HP will get off their collective duffs and support their products. If you look at the big picture, I'm then helping millions.

Have a break.

You too. Nice talking to you!
